Abstract

Background: Tummy time is an early motor stimulation performed in the prone position and supports postural control and visual-motor integration underlying hand-eye coordination. Objective: This study aimed to examine the relationship between tummy time frequency and hand-eye coordination in infants aged 3-6 months. Methods: A cross- sectional observational study involved 34 infants aged 3-6 months from several Posyandu in Gatak District. Tummy time frequency was collected via structured parental interviews, and hand-eye coordination was assessed using General Movements Assessment (GMA). Spearman’s rho test was used to analyze the correlation between variables. Results: There was a significant positive correlation between tummy time frequency and hand-eye coordination (rₛ = 0.569; p < 0.001), indicating that infants with higher tummy time frequency tended to have better coordination. Conclusion: Tummy time frequency is significantly associated with hand-eye coordination in infants aged 3-6 months. Regular and structured tummy time may be recommended to support early visual-motor development.
