Abstract
Breast cancer remains a major public health problem among women worldwide. Breast self-examination (BSE) is an important method for early detection; however, its practice among women of productive age is still limited. This study aimed to examine the relationship between information exposure and peer support with BSE practice among women aged 20-39 years in Banjarsari District. This quantitative study used a correlational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. A total 265 respondents were selected using quota sampling. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using univariate and the Chi-square test. The results showed that information exposure was not significantly associated with BSE practice. In contrast, peer support was significantly associated with BSE practice, although the direction of the relationship was not consistent with behavioral health theories. In conclusion, information exposure does not necessarily influence BSE practice, while peer support is related to BSE practice, highlighting the importance of the quality and form of peer support in encouraging proper BSE practice.
