Abstract
The hydraulic cylinder boom is an important component of an excavator that functions to lift and lower the boom by utilizing hydraulic fluid pressure. Damage to this component can cause a decrease in equipment performance, such as low power and slow boom movement. This study aims to analyze the types of damage, inspection and repair procedures, and the forces acting on the hydraulic cylinder boom unit of the Komatsu PC200-8 Excavator. The methods used include literature studies, field observations, interviews with mechanics, and calculation analysis based on hydraulic system principles. The results of the analysis indicate that the main cause of low power is damage to the seal and O-ring which causes hydraulic oil leakage, resulting in a decrease in force and flow rate of up to about 50% of normal conditions. Repairs are carried out using the reseal method and retesting so that the performance of the hydraulic cylinder boom returns to near normal conditions.
