Abstract

Appropriate complementary feeding is an important factor in supporting the growth and nutritional status of children aged 6–24 months. Maternal knowledge plays a fundamental role in determining complementary feeding practices. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between maternal knowledge of complementary feeding and the nutritional status of children aged 6–24 months in Posyandu, Setabelan Village. This study employed a quantitative analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 37 mothers with children aged 6–24 months were included using random sampling. Maternal knowledge data were collected using a validated and reliable questionnaire, while children’s nutritional status was assessed using z-scores calculated with the WHO Anthro application. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with Spearman correlation test. The results showed that most mothers had good knowledge (54,05%) of complementary feeding and most children had normal nutritional status. The Spearman correlation analysis indicated no significant relationship between maternal knowledge of complementary feeding and the nutritional status of children aged 6–24 months (p < 0.05). In conclusion, maternal knowledge of complementary feeding was directly associated with children’s nutritional status, suggesting that other factors may contribute to nutritional outcomes.
