Abstract

Language plays a crucial role as a means of communication in everyday life. Essentially, interaction and communication cannot proceed effectively and correctly without language. One of the topics discussed in this study is code switching and code mixing. This study aims to describe the code mixing and code switching that occur in daily interactions at the PT Melis Bioteknologi office. This study used a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques including listening, recording, and recording. The results of this study indicate that code mixing at the PT Melis Bioteknologi office includes: internal code mixing in the form of 12 words, 20 phrases, and 13 clauses, while external code mixing in the form of 10 words, 10 phrases, and 5 clauses. In addition to code mixing, there is also code switching. The results of this study indicate that code mixing at the PT Melis Bioteknologi office includes: 8 instances of internal code switching and 2 instances of external code switching.
