Abstract

deforestation and its implications for environmental, social, and economic aspects, using the Maqasid Syariah approach as an analytical framework. The background of this research departs from the rapid expansion of oil palm plantations that have caused tropical forest destruction, loss of biodiversity, and the emergence of various socio-economic problems, such as agrarian conflicts and disparities in the welfare of local communities. The main objective of this article is to analyze how the practice of oil palm plantation expansion is contrary to environmental protection (hifzh al-bi'ah), protection of life (hifzh al-nafs), property (hifzh al-mal), and descendants (hifzh al-nasl). Using a qualitative approach and library research methods that explore scientific literature, regulations, and previous studies on deforestation and Maqasid Syari'ah, this study concludes that land and natural resource management policies in Indonesia need to consider the balance between economic interests and sustainability, and align with the values of Maqasid Syari'ah. The main objective of this study is to analize the impact of the exspansion of oil palm plantations, meaning what are the negative impacts of the expansion of oil palm plantations in Indonesia, then how and whats is the evalution throught the maqasid shariah framework ot the specific objective is to analyze whether the practice of oil palm plantation expansion is combinet with maqasid sharia, namely Hifzh al-Bi’ah, Hifzh al-Nafs, Hifzh al-Mal, Hifzh al-Nasl.
