Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of variations in current strength of 50 amperes, 55 amperes and 60 amperes on the cutting process of ST 37 steel metal using a CNC plasma cutting machine. In this study, testing was conducted using a Jeol JCM-7000 SEM machine as a chemical element test tool and ImageJ software for microstructure area analysis. The method used in this study was experimental. The results of the chemical element tests show that the 60 amperes variation shows the highest chemical element changes, while the 50 amperes current shows the lowest chemical element changes. The results of the analysis using the imageJ show that the average value of the area at 50 amperes is 297,152 μm, 55 amperes is 553,400 μm, and 60 amperes is 577,825 μm. From the average area, it can be concluded that the greater the current strength, the greater the grain area.
