Abstract
The age of 1–2 years is a crucial period in a child's growth and development, requiring optimal nutritional intake. During this period, children are transitioning from breast milk to family food, so the feeding patterns implemented by parents, especially mothers, play a major role in determining the adequacy of nutrition and the child's health. Feeding patterns include the type of food, the amount of food, and the meal schedule that is appropriate to the child's age needs. Inappropriate feeding patterns can increase the risk of nutritional problems, both malnutrition and overnutrition. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of feeding patterns in children aged 1–2 years in the working area of the Sambi Community Health Center, Boyolali Regency. This study used a descriptive design with a quantitative approach and cross-sectional method. The study sample consisted of 70 mothers with children aged 1–2 years and was selected using the Accidental Sampling technique adjusted to the predetermined inclusion criteria. Data collection was carried out using a feeding pattern questionnaire covering aspects of the type, amount, and meal schedule. Data were analyzed univariately and presented in the form of frequency distributions and percentages. The results of the study showed that most parents have implemented a feeding pattern for their children that includes a balanced menu (75.7%), appropriate portion sizes (52.9%), and a regular meal schedule of three times a day (67.1%). Factors influencing this practice include the mother's age and education, role as a housewife, family income, number of children, age and gender of children, and previous parenting experience. Implementing a good eating pattern has the potential to support optimal growth, development, and nutritional status of children. Recommendations for further research are recommended to examine factors such as knowledge, maternal behavior, and family support related to feeding patterns for children aged 1–2 years.
