Abstract

This research paper employs a psychoanalytic lens to unravel the intricate psyche of Jinx, a central character in the animated series Arcane. Drawing inspiration from the foundational theories of Sigmund Freud, the study delves into Jinx's complex narrative, focusing on the impact of trauma on her mental landscape. Through a detailed analysis of her experiences and relationships, we explore how trauma becomes a pivotal force shaping her identity and steering her unconscious desires. This research aims to shed light on the nuanced interplay between conscious and unconscious elements within Jinx's character, offering a unique perspective on the psychological dimensions embedded in the storytelling of Arcane. By applying psychoanalytic principles, we navigate the subconscious realms of Jinx's mind, unveiling the layers of her psychological evolution throughout the series. The study aims to contribute to a broader understanding of character development in animated narratives, emphasizing the significance of psychological depth in crafting compelling and relatable personas. Through this exploration, we hope to illuminate the ways in which Arcane engages with psychoanalytic themes, providing insights into the complex interplay between trauma, identity formation, and unconscious motivations in the context of animated storytelling
