Abstract

Notaries, as public officials authorized to draw up authentic deeds and to exercise other powers in according to Article 37 of Law Number 2 of 2014 concerning the Amendment to Law Number 30 of 2004 on the Position of Notaries, are under a legal obligation to provide pro bono legal services in the field of notarial practice to individuals who are financially incapable. This study seeks to examine and analyze the implementation of such pro bono legal services rendered by notaries to underprivileged individuals in Klaten Regency, as well as the factors influencing notaries in the provision of these services. The research employs a normative- empirical legal method using a descriptive-qualitative approach. The findings indicate that the implementation of pro bono legal services by notaries for underprivileged individuals in Klaten Regency has been effective, supported by several strong enabling factors, although certain inhibiting factors continue to pose challenges.
