Abstract

The transportation sector is the largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. Selecting a fuel that matches the engine compression ratio is crucial for optimizing performance and reducing emissions. This study analyzes the effect of RON 92, RON 95, and RON 98 fuels on engine performance and exhaust emissions in gasoline motorcycle engines. This test aims to analyze the use of RON 92, 95, and 98 fuels on engine performance and exhaust emissions. The results show that RON 92 produces the best performance with a maximum torque of 20.81 Nm, a power of 6.37 kW, and the lowest specific fuel consumption of 0.096 kg/kWh. In terms of exhaust emissions, RON 95 excels with the lowest HC (51 ppm) and CO (0.12%) levels, as well as the highest CO₂ (4.37%). The results of GC-MS analysis on gasoline samples successfully identified 76 compounds, which can be grouped into 53 aromatic compounds, 6 paraffins, 8 olefins, and 14 minor/oxygenate compounds. It was concluded that for the gasoline engine used, RON 92 is the most optimal choice.
