Abstract

Efforts to maintain health not only include medical services and treatments, but also encompass the management of a healthy environment, including the management of medical waste. Medical waste poses a potential risk to the environment if not managed optimally in accordance with regulations. This study aims to analyze the implementation mechanisms of medical waste in Sukoharjo Regency, and to analyze the legal strategies applied by the Sukoharjo Health Office to address the limitations of third parties. The method used is empirical legal research with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques were conducted through interviews with the Sukoharjo Health Office and documentation studies of the regulations related to waste management. The research results indicate that although the management of medical waste has been implemented according to the provisions, it is not yet optimal in temporary storage and external transport, thus requiring a strategy from the health department to address the issue.
