Abstract

Hospitals are public service units that support public health with various facilities and medical services. The quality of hospital services is closely related to the quality of the hospital's operational systems. One important factor in determining the quality of hospital operations is the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems. The role of MEP in hospitals is crucial, considering that the synergy of the facility systems within them depends on the MEP planning that is carried out. The PKU Muhammadiyah Sukoharjo Hospital building implements a different MEP planning system in this study. The 2D AutoCAD architectural plan designed by the planner was redesigned using BIM (Building Information Modeling). BIM implements a more complete design with 3D visual display that is easier for implementers to understand. The BIM system used in this study is Autodesk Revit, where the 2D design is transferred to Autodesk Revit and later the electrical design for lighting, power outlets, HVAC mechanical systems, and clean water piping systems can be designed in detail in Autodesk Revit. MEP calculation data processed in Autodesk Revit for the PKU Muhammadiyah Sukoharjo Hospital Building shows that this building has 5 floors with a total area of 1750 m². The maximum current capacity of PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital in Sukoharjo is 370 A, using a 400 A 3-phase MCCB and NYSEY 2x 4 x 95 mm² conductor cables. The total BTU for the building's mechanical air conditioning is 622,200 BTU/h, and the capacity of the Ground Water Tank for clean water is 94 m³. The implementation of the BIM system using Autodesk Revit at the Muhammadiyah Sukoharjo Hospital Building is highly effective and efficient, enabling planners to design MEP systems more quickly due to the availability of comprehensive features, more promising 3D views, and serving as solution for MEP designers to tackle future projects.
