Abstract
This study aims to examine the application of legal protection for child perpetrators of aggravated theft in the investigation process at the Kepolisian Resort Kota Surakarta. This study uses a normative-empirical method (applied law research), normative-empirical legal research is a study that uses the starting point that positive law should focus more on the influence of legal instruments on people's behavior or how the law is viewed from a social perspective. The types and legal materials used in this study are primary data, secondary data, and tertiary data. Data are collected and then analyzed with existing data in the field through qualitative analysis methods in order to see the suitability and contradictions that become the formulation of the problem to then draw conclusions. Through this study, the results obtained that child perpetrators of theft who are in the investigation process have the right to receive legal protection in accordance with Undang-Undang Nomor 11 Tahun 2012 tentang Sistem Peradilan Pidana Anak and Islamic Law based on maqashid sharia. This legal protection is implemented by POLRESTA Surakarta. Keywords: legal protectian, child, juvenile justice, investigation.
