Abstract

The Kendal Industrial Park (KIK) has great potential as a new economic growth center in Central Java. However, limited direct access to international ports is an obstacle to logistics efficiency and industrial competitiveness. This final project proposes the design of an International Sea Port in KIK using a Waterfront Design approach as an integrated solution to port infrastructure needs and to improve the quality of the waterfront space. The objective of this design is to create a port that not only fulfills economic and logistical functions but also strengthens the identity of the area and is ecologically sustainable. The methodology used includes literature studies, precedent studies, and field observations to formulate design parameters. The design concept integrates modern port zoning with waterfront elements such as promenades, public spaces, and coastal vegetation. By prioritizing circulation efficiency, spatial flexibility, and intermodal connectivity, this design is expected to reduce logistics costs, accelerate goods distribution, and optimally support export-import activities. This project is also in line with the national strategy to accelerate economic development in the Kendal–Semarang region and achieve provincial economic growth of 7% in 2024–2029. The design results show that a waterfront-based port can be a catalyst for simultaneous growth in industry, tourism, and regional sustainability.
