Abstract
Adolescence is a crucial period in social and emotional development, where self-confidence becomes a crucial aspect in the formation of self-identity. This study aims to examine the relationship between body image and self-esteem with self-confidence in eighth grade students at SMPN 1 Delanggu. The study used a quantitative approach with a correlational design and multiple linear regression analysis. A sample of 60 students was selected using a purposive sampling technique. The analysis results showed that body image and self-esteem were simultaneously significantly related to self-confidence (F = 187.033; R = 0.932; p = 0.000; p < 0.01), with a contribution of 86.8% (R² = 0.868). Partially, body image (t = 13.710; r = 0.876; p = 0.000; p < 0.01) and self-esteem (t = 16.647; r = 0.904; p = 0.000; p < 0.01) had a significant positive relationship to self-confidence. Based on the categorization results, all three variables were in the moderate category. These findings indicate that adolescents with positive body perception and good self-esteem tend to have higher levels of self-confidence. Therefore, interventions that support the development of body image and self-esteem need to be part of educational and guidance programs in schools.
