Abstract

The development of information technology has brought significant changes in various aspects of life, including the placement process within organizations. The Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) Marching Band regularly conducts new member placement but still faces several challenges, such as subjectivity in assessments, lack of transparency, and difficulties in managing applicant data. To address these issues, this study implements the Weighted Scoring algorithm in the placement system to enhance objectivity, transparency, and selection efficiency. Unlike previous methods such as Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) and Weighted Product (WP), the Weighted Scoring approach enables dynamic weighting based on assessment categories and ranks participants according to division quotas. This system automates the selection process by calculating the total score of participants based on a combination of weighted criteria and predetermined division priorities. The results of this study are expected to improve the effectiveness and accuracy of new member selection, ensuring more objective decisions that align with the needs of the UMS Marching Band.
