Abstract
Forklifts are a vital tool in industrial operations, particularly for efficiently moving and stacking heavy objects. Forklift performance relies heavily on the hydraulic system, the primary driver of the lifting process, and on the vehicle's stability when the load is lifted to a certain height. This final project aims to analyze the performance of the hydraulic system and the relationship between lifting height and the balance of a 2 ton forklift. The data collection included literature review, direct observation at PT. Indolift Sukses Abadi, and data processing from measurements and calculations. The hydraulic system analysis was conducted using Pascal's Law to determine the forces generated in the lifting and lever cylinders. Meanwhile, the balance analysis was conducted by calculating the center of gravity displacement and stability moments at various lifting heights. The analysis results show that the higher the load is lifted, the forklift's center of gravity shifts forward and upward, resulting in reduced stability. At a height of 0.7 m to 1.3 m, the forklift is still stable, but at a height of 1.6 m, the center of gravity has moved outside the equilibrium triangle, so the forklift is declared unstable. The conclusion of this thesis is that lifting height significantly impacts forklift stability. Therefore, during operation, operators must adhere to height limits and load capacity to avoid the risk of tipping and maintain hydraulic system efficiency.
