Abstract
This study aims to understand the use of figurative language in the novel "Padang Bulan” by Andrea Hirata The method used in this study is qualitative, followed by analysis to describe the stylistic elements contained in the novel. This begins with reading techniques, followed by recording. The collected data is then analyzed to identify, explain, and determine the stylistic elements contained in the sentences in Andrea Hirata's novel Padang Bulan, and its relevance to literature learning in high school. Research into a writer's stylistic style significantly supports readers in discovering the meaning and aesthetic value of literary works. Judging from Andrea Hirata's stylistic style in his novel, "Padang Bulan" demonstrates remarkable variety in his use of stylistic language, including concrete words, academic terms, foreign words, religious variations, regional dialects, and various greetings. This study utilizes various data sources available in the discussion of stylistic language in Andrea Hirata's novel, "Padang Bulan”. The results of this study indicate the use of language styles in Andrea Hirata's novel Padang Bulan, namely comparison, linking, repetition, contrast, rhetorical questions, and climax. Its relevance to learning Indonesian literature in high school is that it is found in literature learning in high school which is included in Basic Competencies (KD) 3.9 and 4.9 of Indonesian language learning for grade XII high school.
