Abstract

Physical access security for rooms or buildings is essential to prevent unauthorized entry. Conventional key systems have weaknesses such as being easily lost, duplicated, and misused. This study designs a prototype of an automatic door access control system based on RFID, integrated with the ESP32 microcontroller and authentication through a MySQL database using the XAMPP web server. The hardware consists of ESP32, RFID RC522 module, relay, solenoid door lock, LED, and buzzer. The ESP32 is programmed to read the RFID card UID, send data to the PHP server via Wi-Fi, and process authentication based on the MySQL database. If the UID is registered and has access rights, the system activates the relay to unlock the solenoid, turns on the green LED for 5 seconds, and the buzzer for 1 second. Otherwise, the red LED and buzzer remain active for 3 seconds. The research methods include literature study, hardware and software design, system assembly, ESP32 integration with the web server, and testing. The results show that the system can read the UID with an effective range of 1.5 cm, an average response time of less than 0.5 seconds, and a solenoid unlocking duration of 5 seconds. The system operates real-time, accurately, and stably in managing access rights, making it applicable for room security systems.
