Abstract

Islamic religious education has a good impact on students, but in its implementation in schools there are obstacles faced. One of the reasons is that there are students who do not come from private or Islamic-based schools so that students need to adapt again to religious learning activities at school. Especially as an Islamic-based school with a variety of Islamic religious subjects. This study discusses the efforts of PAI teachers in overcoming student learning difficulties at SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Surakarta. Relevant to the title, this research is field research. The approach used in this research is qualitative, the methods in collecting data in this research are observation, interview, and documentation methods. While in the analysis method this research uses the method of data collection and then data reduction, data presentation and then the last is drawing conclusions. The results of this study state that the efforts of PAI teachers in overcoming student learning difficulties at SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Surakarta use several methods by using projectors/LCDs, displaying material and practice videos on PPT. The PAI teacher’s solutions in overcoming student’s learning difficulties include the Al-Qur'an Hadith teacher can create special guidance groups for students who have not been able to read the AlQur'an and actively provide encouragement and motivation, the moral character teacher improves subject evaluation not only during exams but also daily behavior, the fiqh teacher makes changes to the attitude when teaching by fostering a sense of love for the subjects taught, tarikh teachers make learning contracts for students, Arabic language teachers provide motivation and improve attitudes when learning.
