Abstract

The clean water distribution system is a vital component in supporting the activities of building users, especially in educational buildings such as Building G of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. This study aims to evaluate the adequacy of roof tank capacity, analyze the performance of the existing pump, and simulate the water discharge delivered to end-use points. Data were obtained from the academic schedule of the odd semester as a basis for estimating the daily number of users. Pump discharge was calculated using the energy conservation approach, applying the Darcy-Weisbach and Hazen-Williams equations. The roof tank capacity was analyzed using the sequent peak method, while discharge simulations were conducted under various water level conditions and the number of active floors. The results indicate that the existing roof tank capacity is still sufficient; however, the existing pump is unable to meet demand within normal operating hours. The discharge simulation results showed a significant decrease in water discharge. This was due to the water level elevation in the reservoir and the number of floors on which the taps were opened simultaneously. The lower the water level elevation on the roof tank, the lower the discharge produced by the taps. Furthermore, the more floors on which the taps were opened simultaneously, the lower the discharge produced by the taps.
