Abstract

Parental involvement plays an important role in supporting children’s education. Parents who are actively engaged in their children’s education tend to create a supportive learning environment. This study aims to examine the influence of parenting self-efficacy and religiosity on parental involvement in children’s education. The research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The population consisted of 160 parents whose children attended the CABACA Tutoring Center, Karangasri unit, with a sample of 115 parents selected randomly using simple random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires using a modified parenting self-efficacy scale (31 items, α = 0.851), religiosity scale (30 items, α = 0.880), and parental involvement scale (18 items, α = 0.807), which had been content-validated by expert judgment (Aiken’s V > 0.80). Classical assumption tests indicated that the data were normally distributed (p = 0.200), showed linear relationships (p > 0.05), had no multicollinearity (VIF = 1.474), and no heteroscedasticity (p > 0.05). The results showed that parenting self-efficacy significantly affected parental involvement (β = 0.384; t = 3.880; p < 0.001) with an effective contribution of 18.6%, while religiosity had no significant effect (β = 0.177; t = 1.785; p = 0.077) with an effective contribution of 7.0%. Simultaneously, both variables contributed 25.6% to parental involvement, while the remaining 74.4% was influenced by other factors not examined in this study. These findings indicate that internal factors such as parenting self-efficacy play a stronger role in promoting parental involvement in children’s education compared to religiosity.
