Abstract

The design of the Pondok Halimun Sukabumi nature tourism area was motivated by its high ecological and natural tourism potential, which has not been optimally managed. Located at the foot of Mount Gede Pangrango, this area boasts natural resources such as waterfalls, rivers, tea plantations, and chrysanthemum cultivation, all of which have educational and economic value. A biophilic architecture approach was chosen as the design foundation to enhance connectivity between humans and nature through the application of natural elements such as local materials, natural lighting, cross-ventilation, and green open spaces. The design method utilized literature studies, field surveys, and user needs analysis to create an environmentally friendly recreational and educational space. The area was designed with a functional zoning concept that supports tourism activities, environmental education, and conservation. The results of this design are expected to create a sustainable tourism area, strengthen local identity, and provide ecological, social, and economic benefits to the surrounding community.
