Abstract

This study aims to develop and evaluate the feasibility of a Minecraft-based geography learning medium for high school students or equivalent levels. The research method employed is Research and Development (R&D), using the ADDIE development model, which includes the following stages: needs analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of the learning media. The analysis phase involved classroom observations to identify the need for instructional media, including specific learning-related aspects. In the initial design stage, an outline of the teaching material was created using supporting software for editing Minecraft-based content—specifically, WorldPainter. Media validation was then carried out by experts who reviewed the preliminary version of the learning media. Revisions and further development were made based on feedback and suggestions from these experts. Field testing was conducted with two classes, involving 79 students and teachers at Al-Islam 1 Senior High School in Surakarta. Additional revisions were made following input from both teachers and students. Data collection instruments used in this study included interviews, documentation, and questionnaires, while data analysis was performed using qualitative descriptive methods. The outcomes of this study are: (1) an interactive Minecraft-based learning medium that illustrates biome formations as part of the high school geography curriculum, and (2) an assessment of the media’s feasibility based on evaluations by subject matter experts (87.08%), media experts (84.38%), teachers (84.63%), and students (51.22% and 56.32%). The findings conclude that this learning media falls into the highly feasible category for classroom use.
