Abstract

The Sahati Road Race Circuit in Sampit is an automotive sports facility built to accommodate the community's racing interests and tackle the problem of illegal racing. However, the construction of this circuit has not been completed and has stagnated since 2018 due to funding and technical constraints, so that the area becomes stalled and cannot be used optimally. Based on these conditions, a solution is planned by redesigning the circuit with a folding architectural approach based on the local wisdom of Central Kalimantan. The folding concept is used as the basis for exploring dynamic and adaptive forms, reflecting the character of racing sports. Meanwhile, the integration of local wisdom is realized through the use of traditional materials such as ironwood, rattan, and Dayak ornamental elements, thus strengthening the local identity of the area. The design method is carried out through literature study, field observation, post-occupancy evaluation, and precedent study. The result of this design is the development of a circuit area that not only meets the technical standards of the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI), but also becomes a multifunctional space that supports sports tourism and strengthens the attractiveness of the city. This redesign is expected to be able to answer the needs of the local automotive community, optimize the potential of the area, and become a new icon for Sampit City.
