Abstract

This study focuses on the revitalization of the Tasikmadu Sugar Factory in Karanganyar as a creative tourism destination. The Tasikmadu Sugar Factory, which was established in 1871, is one of the cultural heritage buildings in Karanganyar that has high historical and colonial architectural value. However, over time, this factory has experienced a decline in function and neglect. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to revive the factory through a creative tourism approach that prioritizes authentic experiences for visitors. The methods used in this study include literature studies, field observations, and data analysis and synthesis. The results of the study indicate that the revitalization of the Tasikmadu Sugar Factory can be done by maintaining the authenticity of the Indische architectural design, improving infrastructure, and creating interactive spaces that support educational and cultural activities. The proposed creative tourism concept includes the development of a sugar factory museum, the provision of craft workshops, and the introduction of modern technology to increase tourist appeal. With this revitalization, it is hoped that the Tasikmadu Sugar Factory will not only become a tourist attraction, but will also contribute to the preservation of cultural heritage and empowerment of the local economy. This study provides recommendations for the implementation of sustainable and participatory design, so as to improve the standard of living of the surrounding community and maintain the sustainability of cultural heritage sites.
