Abstract

Pati Regency is one of the areas in Central Java that needs inclusive and sustainable education facilities. However, currently, there are not many educational institutions in Pati Regency that can accommodate the needs of all students, including children with disabilities. This is certainly not in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which states that every individual has the same right to obtain quality and sustainable education. Therefore, the need for an integrated school that is friendly to people with disabilities needs to be realized to create a comfortable learning environment for every individual. The design method used is a conceptual approach through literature studies, field observations, and user needs analysis. The concept of a disability-friendly integrated school is realized in the form of a Universal Design approach, where each side of the building is designed for the ease of accessibility of every individual, including those with physical limitations. This integrated school is designed with 4 main masses, covering the levels of kindergarten, elementary, junior high, and high school education. The four levels of education are combined into one learning environment, so the main focus of this design is on the zoning system between levels, circulation between masses, and the integration of each building mass. The appearance of the building is designed with the concept of modern tropical architecture that prioritizes adaptation to the tropical climate through a simple and functional design form. The building design is dominated by many openings, the use of environmentally friendly materials, and the maximum availability of green open space. It is hoped that the integrated school building with the Universal Design concept can not only function as an educational facility, but also be able to be a forum for the formation of children's character to care for each other and the surrounding natural environment.
