Abstract
The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the tourism sector, including Umbul tourism in Tulung District, Klaten Regency. Social restrictions have led to a decline in tourist numbers and have negatively impacted businesses operating near tourist sites. Therefore, adaptive tourism development strategies are needed to ensure sustainable Umbul tourism remains post-pandemic. This study aims to analyze the response of Umbul tourism managers in Tulung District, Klaten Regency, in responding to Covid-19, and to analyze the impacts and strategies for developing Umbul tourism in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. This study used a qualitative descriptive method with a survey approach. Data were collected through field observations, interviews with tourism managers, and questionnaires distributed to tourists. Data analysis was conducted using the SWOT technique to formulate a more adaptive tourism management strategy. The results show that the pandemic has caused a decline in tourist numbers, impacting the income of businesses operating near Umbul tourism. However, there has been an increase in tourist awareness of health protocols, as well as improvements in hygiene facilities by tourism managers. For post-pandemic development of Umbul tourism, it is recommended to implement CHSE (Clean, Health, Safety, and Environment) standards, digitize tourism promotions, and provide innovative services such as educational and ecotourism-based tour packages. With adaptive and sustainable management strategies, Umbul tourism in Tulung District can recover and develop as a leading tourist destination
