Abstract

Pasar Pagi Tegal is a traditional market located in the center of Tegal City, specifically in Mangkukusuman Sub-District, Tegal Timur District. Pasar Pagi currently faces various issues, including deteriorating building conditions, inadequate security systems, insufficient accessibility, and hygiene problems within the market buildings and surroundings. These issues form the basis for the redesign of Pasar Pagi into Pasar Wisata Kreatif. Using the Post Occupancy Evaluation (POE) method, interviews, and analysis of supporting documents, the current condition of Pasar Pagi will be analyzed in detail to develop a design concept that addresses these issues. The architectural approach to be used in the redesign is the Contextual Architecture concept, where the design of Pasar Wisata Kreatif building will be aligned with the design of the Benteng Kaloran, a cultural heritage site that has already been constructed within the site area. This redesign will not only alter the physical form of the building but also enhance its functions by adding creative tourism areas such as workshops, a traditional culinary zone, and a cultural stage for the public. Pasar Wisata Kreatif in Tegal City is expected to accommodate various activities encompassing economic, cultural, and creative tourism activities for both the local community and tourists visiting Tegal City.
