Abstract

The research in the film Blonde aims to analyze the representation of feminism in the life of Marilyn Monroe. The film emphasizes the sexual abuse experienced by Marilyn Monroe in the domestic sphere (household) and in the entertainment industry. The method used in this research is qualitative, collecting data through documentation of scenes related to the research topic. This research uses purposive sampling techniques. Purposive sampling is used to obtain more in-depth research data with specific characteristics identified by the researcher. The theory used in this research is Roland Barthes' semiotic theory, which explains signs, denotation, connotation, and myth. The results of the study show that the film Blonde contains forms of feminist representation that can be seen through each scene, including dialogue, visual imagery, and the facial expressions of the character Marilyn Monroe. Feminist representation in the film also shows that the status of women differs from that of men, such as through patriarchy, harassment, and exploitation.
