Abstract

The fast-paced and high-pressure modern lifestyle has created a growing need for retreat spaces that provide tranquility, comfort, and a close connection with nature. The design of the Slow Living Resort in Samiran, Boyolali responds to this need by adopting the Slow Living concept, which emphasizes mindfulness, balance, and sustainable living experiences. Located on the slopes of Mount Merapi with its stunning natural landscape and rich local culture, the resort is envisioned to offer an immersive experience that harmonizes with nature. The design applies Organic Architecture principles to establish harmony between buildings, humans, and the surrounding environment. The resort accommodates relaxation, self-care, and nature-based learning activities through facilities such as villas, a restaurant, a hall, outdoor gathering areas, a therapy garden, and herbal gardens and plantations supporting yoga, meditation, natural spa treatments, and local crafts. The design outcome demonstrates that integrating organic architecture principles with the slow living concept produces spaces that foster serenity, comfort, and emotional connection with nature, while also serving as a model for sustainable resort development that is contextually aligned with the local environment and culture.
