Abstract
With the increasing popularity of K-pop music, many song lyrics contain motivational messages that can provide psychological support for listeners. This study aims to examine the motivational meaning contained in the lyrics of Seventeen's K-Pop songs entitled "Circles", "Cheers to Youth", and "Not Alone". This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with a semiotic theory approach from Roland Barthes, which analyzes meaning through three stages, namely denotation, connotation, and myth. To understand the representation of motivation in song lyrics, a theoretical approach from Viktor Frankl is used which emphasizes three approaches: creative value, experiential value and attitudinal value. Data collection techniques use literature studies and documentation of lyric texts. The results of the study show that the three songs represent motivational meanings that are in line with Viktor Frankl's three approaches, which are reflected through symbols in Korean culture. These findings strengthen the role of K-Pop music as an expressive medium that is able to build motivation and emotional connection for its listeners.
