Abstract

This study reviews the pivotal role of credentialing in enhancing nursing service quality through standardized competencies, improved patient safety, and professional development. Following the PRISMA framework, a systematic search was conducted in PubMed, ScienceDirect, ProQuest, and Google Scholar for studies published between 2015 and 2024. Out of 430 identified studies, 10 high-quality studies were selected for in-depth analysis. The main findings indicate that credentialing significantly contributes to improved patient safety and care quality by ensuring nurses meet professional standards. However, challenges such as resource limitations and regulatory gaps, especially in developing countries, hinder effective implementation. In conclusion, credentialing is a crucial tool in ensuring nurse competence and enhancing patient care outcomes. Collaborative efforts among policymakers, regulatory bodies, and healthcare institutions are necessary to address existing barriers and optimize credentialing practices across institutions.
