Abstract

Women victims of violence need a safe space that supports holistic physical and psychological recovery. The design of the Counselling and Protection Centre for Women Victims of Violence in Solo is based on the Trauma Informed Design approach, which emphasises safety, control, privacy, and connection to nature as key elements of the recovery process. The building is designed to resemble the puzzle symbol, representing sustainability, hope, and unlimited freedom for every individual. Solo was chosen as the location due to its commitment to creating an inclusive and women-friendly city. The building includes counselling rooms, therapy rooms, a shelter/dormitory, and a therapy garden as a connecting space. It is hoped that this centre will serve as a sanctuary offering protection and empowerment, and become a model for empathetic and responsive spaces tailored to the needs of women victims of violence.
