Abstract

Population growth in this era continues to increase, especially the city of Solo where Solo is one of the most developed cities in Central Java. With the increase in population growth, the demand for various types of materials has increased, one of which is wood products such as furniture, construction, and household appliances. One of the industries that need wood every day for production is UD Mulyo Indah Jati. Every day they carry out production which also produces wood waste from production. The wood waste produced is also a lot, therefore this research was conducted. This study aims to assess whether or not it is feasible and develop a business model for making briquettes from wood waste at UD Mulyo Indah Jati, Solo. The methods used include financial analysis with the HPP, BEP, PP, Net R/C ratio, and ROI approaches, as well as business model development using the Business Model Canvas (BMC). Data were collected through interviews, observations, and literature studies, then analyzed descriptively and quantitatively. The results showed that wood waste of around 400 kg per month can be processed into high value briquettes, with the main market potential among culinary MSMEs. Financial analysis shows that this business is feasible and profitable. In addition, marketing strategies through direct sales and digital platforms, as well as efficient human resource management, support business sustainability. Thus, this wood waste briquette-making business has great potential to support environmentally friendly waste management while improving the economy of small and medium industries (SMEs).
