Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship of peer conformity and self-regulation to the stress of students who play online gambling. The subjects of this study were 150 students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. The measuring instruments used in this study are peer conformity scale, self-regulation scale and stress scale. The data obtained were analyzed using multiple regression analysis to determine the relationship between peer conformity and self-regulation on the stress of students who play online gambling. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be seen that the F value is 3,525 and sig. of 0.032 which states that there is a relationship between peer conformity and self-regulation on the stress of students who play online gambling. The subjects in this study had moderate peer conformity, moderate self-regulation, and moderate stress. Peer conformity and self-regulation simultaneously and together have an effective contribution of 4.6% to the stress variable. This shows that the level of student stress is influenced by other factors and variables by 4.6% which were not examined in this study. Partially or separately, the peer conformity variable provides an effective contribution of 2.4% to the stress variable, then the self-regulation variable provides an effective contribution of 2.2% to the stress variable
