Abstract
Participatory culture in the K-Pop fan community is a social force capable of mobilizing collective action, including on humanitarian issues such as boycotting brands affiliated with Israel. One example is the response of the @nctzenhumanity fanbase account to the collaboration between NCT and Starbucks. From this phenomenon, researchers want to know what form of participatory culture is carried out by the @nctzenhumanity account in responding to the collaboration. This study uses Henry Jenkins' Participatory Culture theory, which includes four main forms, namely affiliation, expression, circulation, and collaborative problem solving. The method used is qualitative content analysis with observation data collection methods and documentation of the account's posts during the collaboration period. The results of the study show that the @nctzenhumanity account is not only an affiliate space for fans, but also facilitates creative expression, distributes messages to the media, and coordinates collective actions such as stop streaming, visual campaigns, and renting LED trucks. Participatory culture in this case shows how the fan community can have influence and bargaining power, and play a role in shaping public opinion and the direction of social movements.
