Abstract

The Singhasari Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is a strategic area designed to support regional economic growth, particularly through the tourism, digital economy, and education sectors. This study aims to examine the influence of spatial interaction of the Singhasari SEZ on the activities of local business actors located in the surrounding area, particularly within the Singosari District. The main focus of this research is to identify business distribution patterns and to explore the perceptions of business actors regarding the development of the SEZ. This study employs a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with local business actors engaged in the tourism sector and operating near the SEZ area. The findings reveal that most business actors have yet to gain a comprehensive understanding of the objectives and functions of the Singhasari SEZ. Nevertheless, they have experienced a gradual increase in business activity over time. Factors such as accessibility, spatial proximity to the SEZ, and the potential for economic agglomeration play significant roles in supporting their business development. However, the tourism potential within the SEZ has not been fully utilized, as no major tourist destinations have been developed within the zone. Therefore, strengthening collaboration among stakeholders is essential to ensure sustainable and inclusive development of the area.
