Abstract

The case of charity box theft in places of worship shows that conventional security systems using padlocks are still easy to break into and ineffective in preventing crime. In addition, technology-based security systems that have been developed still have several limitations, such as a lack of features to identify perpetrators and real-time monitoring. Therefore, a more reliable security system is needed. This study aims to design and implement an Internet of Things (IoT)-based donation box security system capable of authentication, detecting suspicious activities, real-time location monitoring, as well as sending notifications and visual documentation via a Telegram Bot. This system is designed to operate independently with primary and backup resources and combines electronic and manual security mechanisms. Test results show that the system responds well to inputs, sends notifications with an average response time of 2 seconds, and accurately distinguishes between normal and suspicious conditions. With this approach, the system offers a more reliable and integrated security solution for donation boxes, enhancing the effectiveness of security measures.
