Abstract

This study aims to analyze the literary elements and moral values in the novel Narasi Perihal Ayah by Jaquenza Eden, and evaluate its relevance in learning literature for grade XII of high school. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method, which focuses on understanding the meaning in depth through the text. The object of the study is the moral values in the novel, while the subjects are teachers and grade XII students who were interviewed to explore their views. Data were collected from quotes in the novel and curriculum documents using the listening and note-taking technique, then analyzed using a stylistic approach and dialectical analysis to find hidden meanings and their relevance to the learning context. The results of the study show that this novel has strong literary elements—such as theme, characters, plot, setting, and style—which are effective in conveying moral values such as patience, honesty, compassion, and gratitude. These values are in line with the objectives of the Merdeka Curriculum phase F, namely strengthening students' character through understanding meaningful literary texts. The relevance of this novel in learning can be seen from its ability to touch the emotional and social sides of students, as well as encouraging them to evaluate the main character's inner conflict, logical thinking, and human values. Thus, this novel supports CP (Learning Achievements), especially in the elements of reading and viewing, which encourage students to think critically and reflectively about the contents of the reading. Good literary teaching materials need to meet three main requirements: language that is appropriate to students' abilities, psychological aspects that are relevant to their age and interests, and a cultural background that is familiar but able to broaden horizons. Narasi Perihal Ayah meets all of these criteria so that it is very worthy of being used as teaching materials as well as a source of simple research that can be done by grade XII students. In conclusion, this novel is not only easy to understand and emotionally touching, but also able to strengthen students' character through the moral values contained in it. Therefore, this novel is very relevant and effective for use in literature learning in grade XII of high school.
