Abstract

This study aims to describe the form of language errors at the level of phonology and morphology in the essay sheet of grade VI elementary school. This research uses descriptive qualitative method with case study research type. The data source of this research was obtained through summative assessment essay sheets of grade VI elementary school students adopted from various subjects. The data collection techniques used in this research are listening and recording techniques. The listening technique was carried out to listen to the use of written language contained in the essay sheets of grade VI elementary school students, then the recording technique in this study was used to record errors in the fields of phonology and morphology contained in the students' essay sheets that had been listened to. The results showed that language errors were dominated by errors in the field of phonology, including errors in the use of capital letters, italics and number symbols. While morphological errors include errors in writing affixes, errors due to word confusion and plonasms. Overall there are 38 language errors, from the calculation of the percentage obtained 27 errors in the field of phonology or around (71.1%), while morphological errors tend to be low, namely 11 errors or around (28.9%).
