Abstract

Dental and oral health during pregnancy is an important aspect that is often overlooked by health cadres. Lack of attention to the oral health of pregnant women can have adverse effects on both the mother and the fetus. Therefore, an effective health education intervention is needed, one of which is through video media. This study aimed to determine the effect of dental and oral health education for pregnant women using video media on the knowledge level of health cadres. The research used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The sample consisted of 59 health cadres in Penumping Village, Laweyan District, Surakarta City, selected using total sampling. The instrument used was a knowledge questionnaire administered before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. The results showed a significant increase in the knowledge level of health cadres after being given education using video media, with a significance value of < 0.001. Dental and oral health education through video media is effective in increasing the knowledge of cadres regarding oral health in pregnant women. Video media can be used as an alternative educational method to practically and efficiently enhance cadres' knowledge.
