Abstract
Indonesia is the largest Muslim-majority country in the world. Despite being a Muslim country, there are still complex social problems including social inequality. Although economic problems and the phenomenon of poverty in Indonesia are still complex. However, the potential of the existing community still has great hope to contribute to tackling social inequality through the roles of the community, especially the middle class and other educated people through the Islamic philanthropy movement. This study aims to describe and analyse the value of Islamic Philanthropy in SMK Muhammadiyah Kajen and SMK Ma'arif NU Kajen as an effort to build philanthropic character. This research uses a qualitative approach with a field research design, the data is obtained through observation, interviews and documentation. The results showed that the internalisation of Islamic Philanthropy values in both schools went through three stages, namely value internalisation, value transaction and value transinternalisation. In the value internalisation stage, both schools use Islamic Religious Education subjects in the classroom. At the value transaction stage, the development of teachers' teaching methods emphasises two-way interaction. At the value internalisation stage, both schools have distinctive characteristics through religious and social spiritual programs developed in accordance with the vision and mission of each school.
