Abstract

First-time voters are one of the groups that require attention in the General Election (Pemilu) agenda. The Voting behavior of this group is influenced by various factors, one of which is political party preference. This study aims to examine the influence of political party preferences on the Voting behavior of first-time voters who will participate in the 2024 Election. This study uses a quantitative approach with a comparative design. The population in the study included first-time voters aged 17 to 24 years, consisting of high school students, college students, and young workers domiciled in Surakarta City. The sampling technique used the purposive sampling method, with a total of 234 respondents. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires distributed online using Google Form. The data that had been obtained was analyzed using the Kruskal Wallis test. The results of the study show that there is no significant influence between political party preferences on the Voting behavior of first-time voters in the 2024 Election. This is indicated by a significance value (sig.) of 0.430 (p > 0.05), which indicates that political party preferences are not the main factor influencing the Voting behavior of first-time voters.
