Abstract
The crime of money laundering is a complex crime and has a broad impact on economic stability, the financial system, and law enforcement in Indonesia. This research aims to analyze the juridical application of the law against the crime of money laundering with a case study of Decision No. 1261 K/Pid.Sus/2015 involving Anas Urbaningrum. The method used in this research is a normative juridical approach by examining legislation, court decisions, and related literature. In this case of money laundering, there are laws that are used as legal application, namely Article 15 of 2002 concerning TPPU, Articles 77 and 78 of Law Number 8 of 2010 concerning Prevention and Eradication of TPPU, and Article 4 of the TPPU Law concerning the origin of assets. The results show that money laundering is often related to corruption as a predicate crime, where the proceeds of corruption are disguised through various complex financial mechanisms. The Supreme Court's decision in this case confirms that public officials found to be involved in money laundering may be subject to additional punishment, such as revocation of political rights. Analysis of the judges' reasoning shows the importance of stricter application of the law to provide a deterrent effect for perpetrators and prevent similar practices in the future. This study recommends strengthening regulations, increasing the capacity of law enforcement, and optimizing financial transaction supervision to narrow the space for perpetrators of money laundering.
