Abstract
Learning is a complex system that involves interaction between students and teachers at school. 21st century learning is a form of implication of the development of community civilization from time to time. One example of the implications of learning in the 21st century is the application of mobile learning. This study aims to determine the effect of the application of social media-based mobile learning on creative thinking skills and learning outcomes of grade VIII students of Prawira Marta Kartasura Junior High School. The method used was descriptive quantitative with a pre-experimental approach, involving 17 students as a sample. Data was collected through observations, worksheets, and pretest and posttest exam questions. The results of the study showed an improvement in students' creative thinking skills, with the average observation score being categorized as good in the aspects of fluency (71%), flexibility (69%), detail (70%), and novelty (66%). The performance assessment showed excellent results in terms of creativity, content quality, time use, and visual aesthetics. The paired sample t-test showed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest values with a sig value of 0.000, which indicated a significant change. The N-Gain Score test showed an average of 0.5552 which was classified as a medium category, showing a significant increase in learning outcomes. However, the limitations of devices and internet connections affect the effectiveness of learning. Overall, the application of social media-based mobile learning can improve students' creative thinking skills and learning outcomes, although several external factors can affect optimal outcomes.
