Abstract

Streamline is a pattern of airflow around an aircraft that is analyzed to understand its aerodynamic characteristics. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of airflow streamlines on a Cessna 150 aircraft using the XFLR5 application. The Cessna 150 aircraft test model was made using a NACA 2414 airfoil profile with a wingspan of 10.17 m. This study focuses on the effect of airspeed (110 km/h, 152 km/h, and 202 km/h) and angle of attack (-5° to 20°) on pressure distribution, lift coefficient, drag, and flow patterns with Reynolds numbers 1944878, 2857581, and 3797575. Simulations were carried out under various flight conditions, namely during take-off, the aircraft in cruising conditions, and landing with variations in speed and angle of attack. The simulation results show that at a speed of 110 km/h and a low angle of attack (-5° to 3°), the airflow around the wing is stable with optimal lift (cl). At a speed of 152 km/h, the optimal angle of attack is at 4° to 6°, producing the best balance between lift and drag when the aircraft is in cruise condition. At a speed of 202 km/h, an angle of attack up to 10° shows good aerodynamic performance, but flow separation begins to occur at angles >10°, increasing the risk of stall.
