Abstract
The increase in the number of annual passengers of the Yogyakarta Commuter Line at Klaten Station in 2021 to 2023 has encouraged the local government to revitalize the station area. This revitalization has caused changes in the morphology and socio-economic conditions of the station area. This study aims to analyze the changes in morphology and changes in socio-economic conditions in the Klaten Station area that have occurred since the operation of the Yogyakarta Commuter Line. Changes in the morphology of the station area can be identified through multi-temporal image interpretation and field observations of the morphological elements of the area. Changes in social and economic conditions can be traced by conducting a questionnaire survey of business actors and Commuter Line users. The results of the analysis of changes in the morphology of the station area show significant changes in the elements of the city's morphology, especially land use. A land area of 47,160 meter square has changed function from undeveloped land in 2018 to built-up land in 2024. In the analysis of changes in social conditions, the results of the questionnaire tabulation show an increase in Commuter Line services and improvements to Klaten Station facilities since the operation of the Yogyakarta Commuter Line. Analysis of changes in economic conditions shows an increase in the number of business actors in the station area, especially in the restaurant and retail business types, but this change is not followed by an increase in the number of consumers or an increase in business profits.
