Abstract

Background: Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) often makes students feel anxious, stressed and emotionally uncontrollable when under pressure when facing the exam. The success factor in an exam is emotional intelligence and self-control, emotional intelligence and self-control determine how well a person uses the skills possessed when under pressure during the exam and responds better to the situation. Objective: To determine the relationship of Emotional Intelligence with Self-Control on OSCE nursing students of the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta. Methods: Quantitative research model with descriptive correlational design and cross sectional method approach as many as 63 respondents. The sample technique in this study was Accidental Sampling. Statistical analysis of Spearman Rank test. The instrument used was an emotional intelligence questionnaire with 16 statements with validity and reliability test results of 0.620 and 0.850 for self-control questionnaires as many as 16 statements with validity and reliability test results of 0.590 and 0.845 each using a Likert scale. Results:. The results of the Spearman Rho correlation test with a p value of 0.005 ≤ 0.05 with an R value of 0.353 mean that there is a significant positive relationship with a moderate level of emotional intelligence with self-control. Conclusion: There is a significant positive relationship between Emotional Intelligence with Self-Control on OSCE Nursing Students Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta.
